BMJ 2017: Systematic review and meta-analysis on vitamin D supplementation to prevent acute respiratory infections “ Our study reports a major indication for vitamin D supplementation; the prevention of acute respiratory tract infection” This review demonstrates a 70% risk reduction of acute respiratory tract (both viral and bacterial) infections when vitamin D levels were above 25 nmol/l.
